Wicklow, Ireland · for Ukraine

Petya's Battalion

We weave support for Ukraine's front line.

A volunteer effort from the Wicklow hills. We buy and personally drive off-road vehicles to Ukraine to be used as frontline ambulances, carry humanitarian aid directly to those who need it, and hand-weave the camouflage nets that hide and protect soldiers and civilians. It is a shared struggle, and one anyone can help with.

01 · WHAT WE DO

Three ways we reach the front

Everything we do points the same way: getting real help, in person, to Ukraine's front line.

The Iron Horse is in Ukraine

We collected "The Iron Horse" in Edinburgh for Drive to Save Lives and drove it to a contact in the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade. This is how it works, and we're doing it again.

02 · OUR MASCOT

Meet Petya

Petya on the road to Lviv

Petya is our mascot and our namesake: a little bear knitted in Ukrainian blue and yellow, made by hand like everything we send.

Petya travels every mile with us, from a first pint on the ferry to the streets of Lviv, and stands for the handmade, human effort behind the whole battalion.

03 · WHO WE ARE

The Battalion

A small group from Co. Wicklow doing what ordinary people can: raising money, driving vehicles, and weaving nets for the people holding the line.

We work in two ways. Petya's Run buys and drives off-road vehicles to Ukraine to be used as ambulances, and Petya's Spiders weave camouflage nets from donated sheets. We do it alongside Drive to Save Lives (D2SL) and other volunteer groups in a wider, decentralised civilian effort.

Everything is delivered directly and documented. We cover our own travel and living costs, so what you give goes to the mission, not to us.

  • Direct, in person.Vehicles, aid and nets delivered by hand to vetted recipients, not sold or stockpiled.
  • A steady stream. One delivery is a drop; we keep going, again and again, so the front never runs short.
  • Transparent.Costs published, receipts kept, the journey documented from Wicklow to Ukraine.
